TikTok LIVE Studio is TikTok's free desktop app for streaming to LIVE from a computer, giving you scenes, overlays, and screen sharing for a more produced broadcast. Instead of holding a phone, you stream from a desktop or laptop with the kind of layout control that gamers, talk-show hosts, and multi-camera creators expect. It is first-party software, built by TikTok, and it connects straight to your account.

This guide covers what LIVE Studio is, who can use it, how to set it up at a high level, and the tools that turn a basic stream into something people stay for. I am LJ, founder of Peak Creators, and I grew my own channel from 18 concurrent viewers to over 2,000. A lot of that jump came from treating LIVE like a real broadcast, not a casual phone session.

What TikTok LIVE Studio actually is

LIVE Studio is a downloadable program for Windows that lets you broadcast to TikTok LIVE from your computer. The core idea is scenes: pre-built layouts you switch between mid-stream. One scene might show your webcam full screen. Another might show your game with a small camera in the corner. A third might be a "be right back" card.

On top of scenes you layer overlays: images, alerts, text, and animations that sit over your video. You can also share your screen, which is useful for tutorials, reacting to content, or showing your desktop. Because everything runs on a computer, you get more processing power, better audio routing, and room for a proper setup than a phone allows.

Who can use LIVE Studio

LIVE Studio is free, but you still need to be eligible to go LIVE on TikTok. Going LIVE generally requires being 18 or older and having around 1,000 followers, though the exact threshold varies by market. You can read TikTok's own rules on age requirements for TikTok LIVE, and there is helpful context on how the follower threshold varies by market.

That follower number is the most common blocker for new creators. If you are close but not there yet, an official LIVE network can sometimes help you get LIVE-ready sooner, since networks on the program can occasionally grant access below the usual threshold. We walk through this in TikTok LIVE requirements: who can go LIVE.

How to set up LIVE Studio (high level)

You do not need a complicated rig to start. A laptop, a webcam, and a clear microphone are plenty for your first broadcasts. Here is the basic flow.

  1. Download LIVE Studio from TikTok and install it on your computer.
  2. Log in with the TikTok account you want to stream from.
  3. Add your sources: webcam, microphone, screen capture, and any media you want on screen.
  4. Build two or three scenes so you can switch looks without stopping the stream.
  5. Add overlays for branding, alerts, and on-screen info.
  6. Check your audio levels and a quick test, then go LIVE.

Keep your first setup simple. A clean camera scene, a starting-soon scene, and one overlay for your name and a call to action will already put you ahead of most casual streamers. You can add complexity once the basics feel natural, and you can save your layout so each broadcast starts from the same polished base.

Scenes and overlays: where the production happens

Scenes are the backbone of a watchable stream. Switching between a full-camera shot, a game-plus-camera layout, and an intermission card keeps the screen alive and signals that you run a real show. Viewers feel the difference even if they cannot name it.

Overlays carry your brand. A consistent frame around your camera, a lower-third with your handle, gift alerts that pop when someone sends a gift, and a goal tracker all make the experience feel produced. Good overlays also do quiet work for retention: they tell new arrivals who you are and what to do within seconds.

This is one area where a free network earns its place. At Peak Creators we build custom overlays, interactive scripts, and stream mechanics for our creators, plus creator asset packs you can drop straight into LIVE Studio. You can learn more about what a TikTok LIVE agency does and the value it adds to a desktop setup.

Why production helps you get discovered

LIVE discovery is not random. TikTok's LIVE distribution tends to reward strong first-minutes retention, total watch time, real-time engagement, and consistent schedules, as covered in this breakdown of the TikTok algorithm. A produced stream supports every one of those signals. Clean scenes keep people watching. Interactive overlays drive engagement. A recognizable look helps returning viewers commit.

That is the real argument for LIVE Studio: it gives you the tools to hold attention, and holding attention is what the system pays out for. For deeper tactics, see how to grow on TikTok LIVE.

How LIVE Studio fits into earnings

Streaming from desktop does not change how money works. Viewers buy Coins, send you gifts, and those gifts convert to Diamonds in your account. TikTok defines Diamonds here. Diamonds are not directly cashable on their own; you cash out through TikTok's Rewards program, as described in TikTok's Virtual Items policy.

The rough math, all estimates: a Diamond is worth about $0.005, roughly 200 Diamonds to a dollar per this TikTok Diamond guide, while a Coin costs viewers an estimated $0.0103 to $0.0133 depending on region per this gift price list. End to end, one analysis estimates TikTok takes about a 77% cut, so creators net somewhere around an estimated 25 to 50 percent of viewer spend. Want your own numbers? Run them through our TikTok money calculator, and see how TikTok LIVE payouts work for the full picture.

Payouts go directly from TikTok to creators, monthly, via PayPal, with low tiered minimums and one withdrawal per day, per TikTok's cash award withdrawal terms.

Pairing LIVE Studio with a free network

LIVE Studio gives you the stage. A network gives you the support to fill it. Peak Creators is an official TikTok LIVE agency on TikTok's LIVE Creator Networks program, managed through the LIVE Backstage portal. We are 100% free and take 0% of your gift earnings. TikTok pays the network separately, out of its own cut, never out of your share. There is no follower minimum to join us, and we help creators at any stage get LIVE-ready.

Being on the official program is something you can confirm, which matters when choosing who to work with. Our guide on how to verify a TikTok LIVE agency is official shows exactly how, and what a TikTok LIVE agency is covers the bigger picture.

You bring the desktop and the energy. We bring the overlays, the coaching, the interactive mechanics, and a large, active community of TikTok LIVE creators to learn alongside.
