This is different from a gift. A gift is a one-time tap during a stream. A subscription is an ongoing relationship. Think of gifts as applause and subscriptions as membership. Both matter, and the best LIVE creators use both together.

The price is set by TikTok and can differ by region. I will not quote you an exact figure, because the numbers change and vary by market. Any specific price you see floating around online should be treated as an estimate, not a fact.

The perks your subscribers get

The whole point of a subscription is making members feel special. The core perks usually include:

• Custom emotes. Subscribers get access to emotes they can drop in your chat, including during streams. These become a little badge of belonging.
• A subscriber badge. A visible marker next to a member's name so everyone knows they support you. It builds status and loyalty.
• Subscriber-only chat. You can run chats or moments reserved for members, which keeps your most committed fans engaged and gives them a reason to stay subscribed.

These perks do real work. They reward your most loyal viewers, they create an inner circle people want to join, and they give casual viewers a clear next step beyond just gifting.

How subscriptions fit with gifts and Diamonds

Subscriptions are one income stream. Gifts are another, and they run on TikTok's Diamond system. When viewers send gifts, those convert into Diamonds, which you later cash out.

It helps to understand the money flow. Viewers buy Coins, estimated at roughly $0.0103 to $0.0133 each depending on region (source). They spend those Coins on gifts. Creators receive Diamonds, valued at an estimated $0.005 each, or about 200 Diamonds to the dollar (source). TikTok keeps a meaningful platform share across that whole journey. One analysis estimates the effective cut is around 77% end to end, meaning creators net roughly 25% to 50% of viewer spend (source).

Who can use subscriptions

Subscription access depends on TikTok's eligibility rules, which sit on top of being able to go LIVE in the first place. To go LIVE you generally need to be 18 or older and meet a follower threshold, commonly cited as around 1,000 followers but varying by market (source). That follower number genuinely shifts by region (more detail here), and official networks can sometimes help creators reach access in certain markets.

Here is the part creators care about most. TikTok pays you directly. Diamonds from gifts are cashed out through TikTok's Rewards program, since virtual items are not directly cashable on their own (policy). Withdrawals are PayPal-only, with tiered low minimums and a limit of one withdrawal per day (cash-out terms).
