TikTok Gifts and Coins Values: What They're Worth
TikTok gifts are bought with Coins (about $0.0103 to $0.0133 each, estimate) and earn you Diamonds worth roughly $0.005 each. See how the values really work.
TikTok gifts are bought with Coins (worth roughly $0.0103 to $0.0133 each as an estimate), and when a viewer sends you one you earn Diamonds worth about $0.005 each (around 200 Diamonds to the dollar). Here is how the values actually work.
The TikTok gift economy has three moving parts: Coins on the viewer side, Gifts as the thing they send, and Diamonds on the creator side. Once you understand how those three connect, the whole "how much is a gift worth" question gets simple. I run LIVE myself as a creator, and I have watched a lot of people misread these numbers, so let me lay it out plainly.
Coins: what your viewers actually buy
Coins are the in-app currency viewers purchase with real money. Your audience tops up a Coin balance, then spends those Coins on Gifts during your stream. The price of a Coin is not fixed worldwide. It shifts by region, by platform (buying inside the app can cost more than buying through a browser), and by the size of the bundle. A common working estimate is roughly $0.0103 to $0.0133 per Coin (an estimate that varies by region).
So when a viewer buys a 100-Coin bundle, they are spending somewhere near a dollar of real money. Bigger bundles sometimes carry a slightly better per-Coin rate. The key point: Coins are what your viewer pays. They are not what you, the creator, receive.
Gifts: the bridge between Coins and Diamonds
A Gift is the animated item a viewer sends you on LIVE. Each Gift has a Coin price. A small Gift like a Rose costs about 1 Coin. Mid-tier Gifts run dozens to hundreds of Coins. The large, flashy ones (the Lion, the Universe, and similar) can cost tens of thousands of Coins each.
When someone sends you a Gift, TikTok converts that Gift into Diamonds on your account. That conversion is where a chunk of the value changes hands, which is why the Coins a viewer spends and the Diamonds you receive are not a 1:1 match.
Diamonds: what you actually earn
Diamonds are the reward TikTok credits to creators based on the Gifts they receive on LIVE. TikTok defines Diamonds as the value you accumulate from Gifts, and that Diamond balance is what you eventually cash out.
A widely used estimate puts a Diamond at about $0.005 each, roughly 200 Diamonds to the dollar (an estimate). That figure is the one to anchor on when you are projecting earnings, because Diamonds (not Coins) are what becomes money in your pocket.
The conversion, end to end
Here is the part that trips people up. A Coin spent by a viewer is worth more than the slice of value you keep as a creator. By the time a Gift travels from a viewer's wallet to your withdrawable balance, the platform's processing and store fees have taken a meaningful cut. One analysis estimates the platform's effective end-to-end cut at roughly 77% (an estimate), meaning a creator nets somewhere in the range of about 25 to 50 percent of what a viewer originally spent.
That is normal for app-store-based virtual economies, and it is not unique to TikTok. The honest way to read it: do not value your Diamonds at the Coin price your viewer paid. Value them at the Diamond rate.
Example conversions (labeled estimates)
These use the ~$0.005-per-Diamond rate as an estimate. Real numbers move with region, fees, and TikTok's current terms, so treat every figure as a ballpark.
- 100 Diamonds is about $0.50 (estimate).
- 1,000 Diamonds is about $5.00 (estimate).
- 5,000 Diamonds is about $25.00 (estimate).
- 20,000 Diamonds is about $100.00 (estimate).
- 44,999 Diamonds (a common big-Gift size) is roughly $225 (estimate).

Turning Diamonds into real money
Diamonds are not directly exchangeable for cash on their own. TikTok's Virtual Items policy is clear that virtual items carry no independent cash value. You convert them by cashing out through TikTok's Rewards program.
The mechanics, per TikTok's withdrawal terms (subject to change): cash-outs go to PayPal, there are tiered low minimums to start a withdrawal, and you are generally limited to one withdrawal per day. So the path is always Coins (viewer) becomes Gift becomes Diamonds (you) becomes a PayPal payout.
Why these are estimates, not fixed prices
Every dollar figure above is an estimate for a reason. Coin prices vary by region and purchase method. The Diamond rate is a community-derived estimate. And TikTok can adjust its rates and terms. Anyone quoting an exact, permanent "X dollars per gift" is overstating their certainty. Use these numbers to model and plan, then confirm against your own payout history once you are running LIVE.
How to actually earn more Diamonds
Knowing the values is step one. Earning more is step two, and it comes down to getting in front of more people and keeping them engaged. TikTok's LIVE discovery rewards strong first-minutes retention, sustained watch time, real-time engagement, and a consistent schedule. More eyes plus more genuine interaction equals more Gifts, which equals more Diamonds.
To go LIVE at all, you generally need to be 18 or older and around 1,000 followers, though TikTok notes the threshold varies by market and recognized networks can sometimes grant access below it. If you are not there yet, our guide on how to grow on TikTok LIVE covers the retention and consistency habits that move the needle.
